Associate Full Stack Developer

Appnovation is seeking an Associate Full Stack Developer to join their team in Kuala Lumpur. The candidate will work as part of a cross-functional team to deliver high-quality web-based systems and collaborate with Project Managers and Business Analysts to propose technical solutions. They will also contribute to growth by actively participating in new business activities and project delivery.

The Associate Full Stack Developer will develop technical specifications and design documents, define API specifications, create web services, and complex UI components. They will also conduct code reviews and support all internal and client information security compliance activities.

Responsibilities include:

• Working as part of a cross-functional team to deliver high-quality web-based systems.
• Participating in business and technical discussions internally and externally with clients.
• Collaborating with Project Managers and Business Analysts to propose technical solutions.
• Communicating technical design alternatives, limitations, and benefits.
• Contributing to growth by actively participating in new business activities, statement of work (scope, deliverables, and effort estimations), and project delivery.
• Auditing new and existing implementations, identify gaps, and recommend improvements.
• Advocating for industry and department best practices.
• Making internal recommendations to help improve and streamline technical and architectural processes.
• Developing technical specifications and design documents for client and internal engagements.
• Working closely with Appnovation leaders to develop high-value solutions based on market trends and analysis and craft approaches for successful delivery.
• Defining API specifications and create web services.
• Creating complex UI components and user flows.
• Disseminating solutions and delegate tasks to developers.
• Conducting code reviews.
• Supporting all internal and client information security compliance activities to assure compliance with required client standards, procedures, guidelines, and processes.
• Creating knowledge base articles for marketing, case studies, whitepapers, and to share experiences with the broader Appnovation team.
• Ensuring technology standards, patterns, and practices are understood and implemented by all teams and partners.
• Advocating for ongoing internal knowledge capture and sharing.

Requirements:

• 3+ years professional experience building and shipping web or mobile applications as part of a cross-functional team.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or demonstrably equivalent industry experience.
• Proven ability to write clean, maintainable code and deliver features end-to-end with quality and security in mind.
• Solid grasp of software design patterns and the full SDLC, including peer reviews and automated CI workflows.
• Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript plus one modern framework—React, Vue, or Angular—and experience building responsive UIs (HTML 5, CSS 3, Flexbox/Sass/Less).
• Practical back-end development experience with Node.js (or Java/PHP) and RESTful API design/consumption; comfortable reading and producing OpenAPI/Swagger specs.
• Working knowledge of SQL or NoSQL databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB) and basic data-modelling principles.
• Familiarity with Git and at least one CI/CD platform (Bitbucket, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, etc.).
• Exposure to at least one major cloud provider (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and awareness of security-by-design and privacy best practices.
• Clear written and verbal English; able to articulate technical trade-offs to teammates, project managers, and clients across APAC time zones.
