Back-End Software Engineer - Umeå at Clear Street

Clear Street is seeking a Back-End Software Engineer to join its Swedish Engineering team in Umeå. The candidate will play a key role in building the technological foundation of Clear Street, working closely with business partners to design and implement new solutions while supporting existing business operations. This individual will contribute to building server-side elements, including data storage, security, and performance optimization.

The Back-End Engineer will tackle complex challenges, balancing trade-offs to deliver clean and efficient solutions for a modern prime brokerage experience. The candidate will be deeply involved in engineering technology solutions for diverse clients, like hedge funds, traders and portfolio managers. This role necessitates strong collaboration with teams in Sweden and New York to develop applications for various business areas.

Requirements:

• At least four (4) years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency with Java and the tech stack.
• BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or similar major.
• Deep knowledge of computer science fundamentals.
• High degree of self-motivation.
• Ability to work with stakeholders to develop new product ideas.
• Experience in building trading systems or high-throughput streaming applications.
