SRE Support Engineer (UK time)

Job Description

Gigster is seeking an SRE Support Engineer to work on a project with one of its largest clients. The successful candidate will provide a range of services, from onboarding clients to creating informational posts on the community support platform. They will also participate in developing support tools and processes to facilitate scaling in services. The role requires working UK office hours, Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend availability for maintenance, compensated with time off.

The role involves:

• Addressing complex customer questions and driving incidents to resolution.
• Troubleshooting and resolving container orchestration/management issues (Docker and Kubernetes).
• Analyzing customer interaction trends to provide feedback to Engineering and SRE organizations.
• Building knowledge base articles and participating in post-mortem reviews.
• Contributing to the client’s development of objectives and goals.

Requirements:

• Robust level of spoken and written English.
• 5+ years of experience supporting scalable applications and web services.
• Experience with Cloud technologies (AWS mandatory, Google Cloud nice to have).
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and Docker (mandatory), Spark, and Kafka (basic knowledge).
• Extensive experience deploying, managing, and scaling applications using Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with Helm, Kustomize, or similar tools.
• Deep understanding of Linux administration, scripting (Bash, Python), and troubleshooting.
• Understanding of network protocols, DNS, load balancing, and related technologies.
• Comfortable working with a technical customer base and providing a wide range of support.
• Strong familiarity with modern server technologies and architectures.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and analytical skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively and independently.
• Strong attention to detail and troubleshooting experience.
• Ability to work as an independent contractor for a US company.
