Senior Backend Engineer - Events and Notifications

Job Description

Verkada is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join their Events and Notifications team. This role is based in San Mateo, CA, and focuses on building scalable systems for Verkada's user portal, Command. The engineer will be responsible for ensuring customers can easily monitor live events and maintain the safety of their spaces.

The Senior Backend Engineer at Verkada will be responsible for:

• Building scalable systems to handle high traffic from security cameras.
• Owning and maintaining a public API for historical footage retrieval.
• Developing internal tools for engineering and marketing teams.
• Building back-end applications end-to-end.
• Communicating with engineering teams to build world-class products.

Verkada requires candidates to have:

• A degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 5+ years of professional experience as a Back End Engineer.
• Expertise in Python or GoLang.
• Experience with relational and non-relational databases (MySQL, Dynamo, Postgres).
• A history of shipping significant products.
