Job Description
Verkada is seeking an Engineering Manager/Tech Lead Manager to lead a growing team and ensure the reliability and usability of its cloud-based systems. This role requires hands-on leadership and strong people management skills, focusing on guiding a team of engineers to manage and optimize Verkada's infrastructure. Expertise in AWS and Kubernetes is essential, along with the ability to mentor, delegate, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities:
  • Build and lead the team through effective recruitment, mentoring, and leadership.
  • Manage cross-functional collaboration with other engineering and security teams to develop best practices and standards for backend developers.
  • Hands-on involvement to guide the team, but delegate technical tasks, ensuring engineers have the support and leadership needed to execute.
  • Provide strategic direction to improve the reliability, scalability and security of our system.

Requirements:
  • 2+ years of experience in managing, leading, and inspiring a team of engineers, including hiring, retaining, and managing performance.
  • 5+ years of work experience in a software engineering role, with proven technical leadership skills and expertise in designing scalable, reliable, and efficient solutions.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Proficient in agile team software development and strong project management, delivering complex projects within defined timelines and resource constraints.
  • Adept at collaborating with cross-functional teams, communicating effectively, and aligning efforts to achieve common goals.
  • Experience with python or Go, and familiarity with backend development flow including server-side framework and database system.
