Job Description

The AI Security Institute is seeking a Research Scientist/Engineer, Biological and Chemical Models to join their team in London. This role is positioned within the Chem-Bio workstream at the AI Security Institute (AISI), and the individual will contribute to advancing the security science of advanced AI models, including LLMs and specialized models within biology and chemistry.

The selected candidate will work within a cross-cutting team to evaluate the capabilities of frontier biological models and aid in developing evaluations, benchmarks, and safeguards for these tools.

Role Involves:

  • Setting up and deploying frontier models.
  • Evaluating models in line with AISI's research objectives.
  • Writing code to assess model capabilities in protein design, structure prediction, and biological foundation models.
  • Exploring research questions at the intersection of AI and biosecurity.
  • Communicating results to inform wider cross-Government efforts.

Requirements:

  • Background in machine learning, with direct experience in training, tuning, or evaluating models using PyTorch or similar frameworks.
  • Experience working on biological (frontier) AI models.
  • Proficiency in Python coding.
  • UK Nationality (due to security clearance requirements)
