Senior Database Engineer at Scalapay

Scalapay is seeking a Senior Database Engineer to join their team in Milan. The company is a rapidly growing unicorn in the BuyNow PayLater space, committed to innovation and customer-centric solutions. The Senior Database Engineer will be responsible for managing and monitoring the company's databases and ensuring data reliability.

In this role, he/she will lead the design, deployment, and optimisation of scalable, secure, and high-performing databases on AWS. He/she will play a pivotal role in ensuring database availability, security, and performance, contributing to Scalapay's data-driven success.

Role involves:

• Managing and optimising AWS database systems.
• Implementing backup, recovery, and replication strategies.
• Designing and deploying databases in AWS environments.
• Performing data migrations and enforcing security measures.
• Automating tasks and optimising database queries.
• Collaborating with teams to support application development.
• Staying updated on AWS database technologies.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 10+ years of database administration experience, with a focus on AWS technologies.
• Expertise in AWS services like Amazon RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, Kafka, Redis, etc.
• Proficiency in MySQL and advanced query optimisation skills.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration abilities.
• Knowledge of database security, compliance, and disaster recovery strategies.
• A proactive, self-motivated mindset with excellent organisational skills.
