The Head of Engineering will report to the COO and will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of technology, culture, and team structure at Smarkets. The ideal candidate will steer architectural and strategic decisions that fuel long-term business growth.
Responsibilities:
- Set the engineering vision and roadmap.
- Drive architectural decisions for scalability, reliability, security, and efficiency.
- Oversee end-to-end software development processes.
- Build, hire, and mentor high-performing engineering teams.
- Foster a strong, communicative, and collaborative team culture.
- Optimize engineering processes, from code quality to cybersecurity.
- Manage compliance, infrastructure, and internal technology systems.
- Work closely with key stakeholders to align engineering priorities with business goals.
Requirements:
- 10+ years in software development, with 5+ years in senior leadership.
- Proven track record in growing and managing engineering teams.
- Extensive backend experience with scalable, low-latency systems.
- Strong capability in architectural decisions and technical strategy.
- Exceptional communication skills.
