Defence Systems Engineer (m/f/d)

Job Description

A portfolio company is seeking a Defence Systems Engineer to integrate military systems into robotic platforms. The engineer will ensure interoperability between robotic platforms and military systems, including sensors, effectors, communication networks, and mission control interfaces. The role operates at the intersection of hardware, software, and battlefield applications, integrating cutting-edge technologies into unmanned ground systems (UGVs) to enhance their operational effectiveness in defence scenarios. This German dual-use technology company develops unmanned ground vehicles.

In this role, the candidate will:

• Lead the integration of military systems into robotic platforms
• Ensure compatibility across mechanical, electrical, and software interfaces
• Develop and optimise embedded software solutions
• Design and implement communication architectures
• Work on power distribution and system electronics
• Conduct system-level testing and validation
• Collaborate with military stakeholders to define system requirements

Requirements:

• Strong expertise in multi-domain system integration
• Proficiency in electronics, embedded software, and communication networks
• Experience integrating defence-grade payloads into robotic platforms
• Knowledge of military networking and data protocols
• Hands-on experience with C++, embedded Linux, and real-time systems
• Ability to obtain EU security clearance
• Master’s or PhD in a related field
