Sony Interactive Entertainment is seeking a PS4/PS5 System Software Development Engineer to join the PlayStation team in Tokyo. This role focuses on the design, development, and testing of video DRM libraries for PlayStation consoles. The engineer will be involved in porting industry-standard DRM libraries such as Microsoft PlayReady and Google Widevine, as well as designing and developing DRM execution environments for the PlayStation platform. They will also provide support to media application developers.

The team is responsible for AV playback feature development and software development/implementation of DRM libraries and security functions used in 3rd party video streaming applications. They develop the foundational technology for media applications in collaboration with the HW team, addressing security requirements for video streaming.

Role Involves:

  • Designing, developing, and testing video DRM libraries for PS4 and PS5 consoles.
  • Porting industry-standard video DRM libraries like Microsoft PlayReady and Google Widevine.
  • Designing and developing DRM execution environments for the PlayStation platform.
  • Providing support for media application development licensees.

Requirements:

  • At least 3 years of embedded software development experience using C/C++.
  • Experience in one or more of the listed "Nice to have Skills and Qualifications".
  • Desire to learn new technologies and knowledge.
  • Good communication skills for teamwork.
  • Interest in video streaming related technologies.
  • English skills equivalent to TOEIC 650 or higher is desirable.
  • Ability to communicate in English with overseas engineers.
