Sony Interactive Entertainment is seeking a Database Reliability Engineer (DBRE) to join their team in Tokyo. The DBRE will focus on improving, automating, and strengthening the governance of database, NewSQL (NoSQL), and Cache solutions used by the Tokyo team's microservices. This role involves collaborating not only with the Tokyo team, but also with global teams to share and implement best practices across different locations. The ideal candidate should be passionate about PlayStation products and thrive in a collaborative environment.

Role Involves:

  • Designing, implementing, and maintaining highly available and scalable database solutions.
  • Improving the efficiency of database operations management through automation, tool development, and process improvement, with a focus on Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
  • Visualizing, maintaining, and improving database performance and health.
  • Collaborating with DBREs and service development teams globally to resolve database-related incidents and performance bottlenecks.
  • Implementing and enforcing security best practices.
  • Conducting capacity planning and performance tuning.
  • Documenting system configurations, design philosophies, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Staying updated with the latest database technologies and industry trends, and sharing knowledge with the team.

Requirements:

  • Experience in operating storage and cache technologies such as MySQL, Memcached, Redis, and AWS DynamoDB.
  • Proficiency in SQL and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Go).
  • Experience in developing and operating with cloud service providers.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform or Ansible.
  • Basic knowledge of Linux.
  • English language skills to communicate via email/chat, conference calls, and business trips.
