Job Description
Solsten, a company focused on enhancing human experiences through human-centered digital products, is seeking a Games User Researcher to join their Player Research Team. The researcher will provide guidance on user research methodologies, conduct studies, and deliver insights to improve player experiences for various game industry clients. The role is based in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

The responsibilities for this role include:
  • Planning and conducting user research studies like playtests, usability testing, and surveys.
  • Offering expert advice on user research strategies.
  • Analyzing research data to identify player behavior patterns.
  • Designing and refining surveys for data collection.
  • Preparing reports and presentations of research findings.
  • Collaborating with clients to integrate research findings into game development.
  • Using psychographic audience insights data for recruiting and data analysis.
  • Adapting to different company cultures and project needs.
  • Adhering to ethical research practices.

Requirements for this role include:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Psychology, HCI, Cognitive Science, Anthropology, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in user or player research.
  • Strong proficiency in research methodologies and data analysis tools (e.g., SPSS, R, Excel).
  • Strong understanding of survey methodologies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Deep understanding of gaming culture and trends.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently.
