IoT Systems Engineer

Job Description

GlacierGrid is seeking an IoT Systems Engineer to contribute to innovative and sustainable energy solutions. The engineer will focus on designing and implementing scalable backend systems, particularly with the integration of new LoRaWAN IoT hardware devices. This role involves developing and maintaining payload decoders/encoders to ensure seamless communication with third-party devices. Collaboration with the SF Bay Area and ARG teams will be essential for tackling backend engineering tickets and optimizing hardware integrations.

The IoT Systems Engineer will report directly to the Backend Lead and contribute to building robust code and scaling the platform.

Responsibilities include:

• Designing and implementing scalable backend systems for the platform.
• Integrating new LoRaWAN IoT hardware devices.
• Developing and maintaining payload decoders/encoders.
• Troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
• Optimizing hardware integrations.

Requirements:

• 4+ years of professional work experience building and maintaining IoT and backend systems.
• Advanced English level with strong communication skills.
• Understanding of LoRaWAN architecture and experience with LoRaWAN gateways and end devices.
• Proficiency in JavaScript and C/C++.
• Knowledge of wireless communication protocols, specifically LoRa.
• Familiarity with IoT platforms and cloud services, specifically AWS IoT, and IoT communication protocols, specifically MQTT.
