Marqeta is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their Transaction Auditing team in Toronto, Canada. This role focuses on designing, building, and operating systems that ensure accuracy and compliance across Marqeta's transaction domain. The successful candidate will lead a small scrum team responsible for the infrastructure, services, and APIs that guarantee the correctness of financially impactful transactions.
Marqeta works Flexible First, so this role can be performed remotely within British Columbia or Ontario, Canada. The Senior Software Engineer will enhance Marqeta’s ability to process transactions with precision, speed, and efficiency.
Responsibilities include:
- Designing and implementing high-performance solutions for large-scale financial data and compliance landscapes.
- Developing software and infrastructure to achieve repeatable, efficient, high-quality releases through automation.
- Debugging critical production issues across services and stack levels.
- Analyzing data, detecting patterns, and creating documentation for non-technical audiences.
- Diagnosing and resolving production issues across services and system layers.
The ideal candidate should possess:
- 5+ years of industry experience in software development (Java preferred), service-oriented architectures, and cloud computing (AWS preferred).
- Ability to develop and deliver clean, readable code with documentation and testing.
- Understanding of existing designs and technology choices.
- Clear and respectful communication skills (verbal and written).
- Humility, empathy, and a positive attitude towards feedback.
- Desire to grow, learn, share ideas, and help others.
- Ability to work productively on cross-functional teams.
