Lightspeed is seeking a Principal Site Reliability Engineer to join its dynamic Reliability Engineering team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about data security, reliability, and high availability, and will enjoy building robust infrastructure and governance frameworks. This role is based in Montreal and requires a hybrid work arrangement, with work from the office required.

Role Involves:

  • Collaborating with data teams to design and implement scalable, reliable, secure, and cost-effective cloud infrastructure.
  • Ensuring security through a comprehensive approach encompassing infrastructure, supply chain, and interaction with third-party systems.
  • Contributing to the development of self-service workflows for data and infrastructure.
  • Promoting best practices in infrastructure as code, high availability, disaster recovery, and security.
  • Conducting competitive analysis of infrastructure frameworks and data processing solutions.
  • Participating in daily support and troubleshooting activities.
  • Contributing to organizational goals by performing tasks outside the strict scope of the role.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong experience in production environment management.
  • Solid experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Solid experience in managing infrastructure with code.
  • Proficiency in Bash, Go, or Python.
  • Expertise in infrastructure as code, preferably with Terraform.
  • Understanding of GCP data and security components.
  • Strong skills in Linux/Unix administration and networking.
  • Practical experience with Docker, Kubernetes, MySQL, and PostgreSQL.
  • Familiarity with networking tools (VPNs, VPCs, Service Controls).
  • Problem-solving and adaptability skills.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and willingness to step outside comfort zone.
  • Accountability for deliverables.
  • Experience optimizing observability, monitoring, and alerting.
