Job Description
ESA is seeking a highly motivated Environmental Planner to join their Community Development team in the Pacific Northwest. This role involves providing environmental compliance and permitting expertise for various clients throughout the Puget Sound region. The Environmental Planner will work within a team environment and will support SEPA and/or NEPA projects, WA State Growth Management Act comprehensive planning, and local, state, and/or federal permitting.
Role Involves:
- Serving as a technical specialist in planning or environmental review.
- Serving as Project Manager on basic projects..
- Serving as Deputy Project Manager or Task Manager on complex projects.
- Authoring planning and/or environmental review documents.
- Performing research and analysis in project areas.
- Participating in client meetings and presenting information.
- Participating in business development and preparing scopes of work.
- Providing mentorship and support for junior staff.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in environmental planning, policy, science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in SEPA and/or NEPA compliance.
- Experience with local, state, and/or federal permitting for infrastructure projects (desired).
- Ability to prepare concise and well-written documents.
- Effective team member and communicator.
- Experience in Washington or Oregon projects.
