Financial Controller - Remote UK at Wakam

Wakam, a B2B2C insurance company transforming the digital and embedded insurance landscape, is seeking a Financial Controller to join their dynamic Finance team. The Financial Controller will report to the UK CFO, and will have direct responsibility and accountability for timely and accurate delivery of UK regulatory and statutory financial statements.

Role Involves:

• Managing accounts and explaining variances between budget and actual figures.
• Preparing financial statements and managing the year-end process.
• Acting as the key contact for auditors and investment managers.
• Overseeing the overall control environment and ensuring compliance with UK GAAP.
• Producing quarterly reports.
• Reviewing external regulatory reporting requirements.
• Supporting tax-related matters, including corporation tax and VAT returns.
• Drafting papers for the Board and Audit committee.
• Supporting systems and process implementations.

Requirements:

• Qualified ACA or equivalent with experience in the insurance industry.
• Operational/technical experience with UK GAAP and Solvency II.
• Knowledge of MGM/Broker desirable.
• Experienced in financial management including budgeting, forecasting and analysis.
• Experienced in cash flow management, risk management and annual reporting.
• Strong, solid knowledge and understanding of financial controls and regulation in the insurance industry.
• Strong experience in implementation of accounting policies and procedures.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
