Bioinformatics Intern at Loka® Inc

Loka is offering a Bioinformatics Internship for a duration of six months. The intern will work full-time (40 hrs/week) and will be paid. The intern will support Loka’s specialists on Data Engineering (DE) and Machine Learning (ML) projects in Bioinformatics and Life Sciences. This internship provides an opportunity to enhance skills, contribute to impactful projects, and develop a strong portfolio in computational biology.

The Role Involves:

• Collaborating with Loka’s engineers to develop bioinformatics workflows.
• Contributing to DE/ML projects in Life Sciences.
• Assisting in training machine learning models by preparing and processing data.
• Running experiments and analyzing results.
• Exploring and visualizing biological data, identifying data quality issues and potential biases.
• Investigating model errors and refining ML workflows.

Requirements:

• Final-year bachelor’s student in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biology, or a related field.
• Proficient in English.
• Basic knowledge of Python, machine learning, and data analysis libraries (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, SciPy, Scikit-learn).
• Problem-solving skills.
• Experience visualizing and manipulating big datasets.
