Job Description
Lantern is seeking a VP, Public Sector Sales to join their Public Sector Sales team. The ideal candidate will focus on building relationships and selling into state, local and education (SLED) organizations. The VP will formulate and execute a sales strategy to expand on the company's success within a large defined territory.
This role requires a strategic mindset to assess the largest opportunities for Lantern and proven results in managing long, complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycles that lead to multi-million dollar contracts. The ideal candidate is an exemplary relationship builder and brings an expansive network of contacts in the health and benefits industry and across the public sector.
Responsibilities:
- Build and nurture relationships with large public sector plans, becoming a trusted partner and advisor.
- Develop and execute a targeted sales strategy to grow Lantern’s presence within the government space.
- Create a pipeline of target SLED clients, build TOFU with the Lantern Marketing team, and move opportunities to close
- Negotiate contracts and manage complex sales processes.
- Conduct market research to identify key opportunities and ensure Lantern’s solutions align with the unique needs of public sector plans.
- Lead effective presentations and discussions to educate stakeholders on Lantern’s competitive advantages and value propositions.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Consultant Relations and Provider Network Development, to ensure successful project delivery and client satisfaction.
- Foster a collaborative and solution-driven culture in your team that encourages accountability, innovation, and problem-solving.
Requirements:
- 10+ years of direct sales experience selling complex, multi-stakeholder solutions, ideally in the benefits space (SaaS, human capital management, health and welfare benefits, etc., preferred)
- 5+ years of direct sales experience specific to Public Sector
- Resilience to withstand long lead times and government budgeting and procurement practices
- Crisp written and verbal communicator with the demonstrated ability to articulate complex ideas to a wide-ranging audience
- Self-starter with ability to work independently, prioritize work and coordinate multiple tasks within tight time constraints
- Ability to establish strong team relationships and collaborate in a matrix organization as well as develop solutions proactively and independent of supervision
- Demonstrated track record of exceptional performance against goals
- Bachelors degree preferred
