Staff Software Engineer, Backend

Job Description

• Providing technical leadership to a distributed engineering team.
• Advising the leadership team on key technology and product roadmap considerations.
• Owning problems from end to end, managing complexity, and engaging with stakeholders.
• Collaborating with Product Managers to prioritize roadmap initiatives.
• Driving engineering standards (code reuse, documentation, testing, etc.).
• Architecting tools, services, and systems using well-accepted design patterns.
• Upholding GlossGenius’s high standards for engineering and product quality.
• Mentoring newer team members.

• 7+ years of software engineering experience, 3+ years of technical leadership experience.
• Experience with backend development and distributed systems environments.
• Excellent product instincts and ability to make decisions rooted in business context.
• Experience shipping consumer-facing products from 0 to 1 (a plus).
• Effective communication skills and experience coordinating across teams.
• Experience building a long-term roadmap and technical vision.
• Architectural and system design expertise in developing scalable and performant distributed systems.
• Ability to thrive in a collaborative environment.
• Continuous learner with a passion for self-improvement.
• Comfortable picking up new technologies (Ruby, Kotlin, React, React Native).
