Reddit is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Business Experiences team. This team focuses on empowering users, experts, professionals, businesses, and organizations to create engaging content and grow their presence on Reddit. The Engineering Manager will be responsible for building and operating a high-caliber, inclusive team of engineers and will collaborate with product, design, and engineering counterparts to execute on product and business strategy.
The role involves technical and product strategy and offers the opportunity to be involved in a new product space. Reddit offers remote work options within the United States or Canada, or a hybrid model near one of its offices.
What This Role Involves:
- Building and operating a high-caliber, inclusive team of engineers.
- Working cross-functionally with product, design, and engineering teams.
- Leading a team of thoughtful, fast-moving, and motivated engineers.
- Contributing to standards that improve developer workflows.
- Participating in the full development cycle: design, development, test, experimentation, analysis, and launch.
- Driving a culture of technical excellence.
- Planning, development, and implementation across Reddit’s backend service architecture and client platforms.
- Setting and enabling a culture of metrics-led execution.
Requirements:
- 3+ years building and managing high-performing engineering teams.
- 6+ years of experience as a software engineer developing user-facing applications.
- Fluency working with product metrics and exposure to tools like GA, BigQuery etc.
- Software development experience in one or more general-purpose programming languages.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
- BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong focus on user experience and usability.
- Experience with social or e-commerce is a plus.
- Entrepreneurial spirit and a bias towards action.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead with empathy.
