IONOS, a leading European provider of cloud infrastructure, is seeking a Network Reliability Engineer to join its Network Reliability Engineering department. This department is responsible for all IONOS Network Fabrics, focusing on scalable data center networks. The role involves working with a variety of teams in an environment characterized by open structures and a strong team spirit.
The Network Reliability Engineer will contribute to designing, improving, automating, and troubleshooting networks across numerous data centers. They will also be responsible for designing and building tools to manage network automation, researching and recommending solutions for enhancing network performance and security, and collaborating with other DevOps departments to support their requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Help design, improve, automate, and troubleshoot networks in dozens of data centers.
- Design and build tools to manage the network automation.
- Research, evaluate, and recommend solutions for improving network performance and security.
- Work with other DevOps departments to support their requirements and innovate (K8S, Storage, Compute, etc.).
- Participate in an on-call rotation covering all of the above.
Requirements:
- Solid experience with Linux, including automation/development building blocks such as Python, bash, iptables, tcpdump, git.
- Solid experience with Juniper devices - EX, QFX, MX and SRX series and routing protocols (BGP, OSPF).
- Previous experience with infrastructure automation (e.g. automated provisioning of network devices, experience with cloud technologies - Ansible, Salt, Terraform, RESTCONF, NETCONF) is a plus.
- Previous experience with virtualized environments (VMWare, OpenStack, GNS3/EVE, K8S) and their components (KVM, OpenVSwitch, Linux bridges) is a plus.
- Experience with software engineering best practices (code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, release and change management) is a plus.
