General Manager

Job Description

Ernest Packaging Solutions is seeking a General Manager for their Detroit division. The General Manager will report to the Regional Vice President and work closely with the executive team, managing all activities related to the daily operations of the Detroit division. This role has full P&L responsibility.Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain a yearly business plan.
• Maximize division profitability.
• Stay updated with market conditions.
• Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers.
• Implement cost-saving measures.
• Control inventory and review monthly levels.
• Monitor inventory turnover.
• Review and negotiate freight costs.
• Ensure delivery commitments are met efficiently.
• Review daily reports and assist sales managers.
• Work with vendor representatives to maintain competitive pricing.
• Resolve merchandise controls and return goods authorizations.
• Address customer problems related to products.
• Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.
• Support marketing activities.
• Establish and maintain high employee morale.
• Oversee training, growth, motivation, and success of the inside staff.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree and five or more years of experience in a GM or Director Level position required.
• Advanced degree a plus.
• Demonstrated leadership ability.
• Proven track record of building strong relationships.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Ability to analyze complex documents.
• Ability to write procedures.
• Ability to make effective presentations.
• Knowledge of spreadsheet software, order processing systems, project management software, and database software.
