PLOS, a nonprofit organization dedicated to open science, is seeking a Senior UX Designer. The ideal candidate will be a problem-solver who is passionate about refining user experiences. The Senior UX Designer will take ownership of projects from concept to implementation, with a focus on putting the user first. This is a fully remote position based in the UK.
Role Involves:
- Taking ownership in the areas you are working on from discovery to delivery, with a focus on putting the user first
- Using prototyping to test and visualize hypotheses
- Working closely with Product Managers to define problems, scope, and hypotheses
- Partnering with engineers to ensure designs are feasible and implemented with precision
- Establishing and maintaining visual consistency across all touch points
- Collaborating with engineers, drawing inspiration from their expertise to experiment and solve problems
- Collaborating with the Head of UX & Design to establish the in-house design function
Requirements:
- Proven ability as a Senior UX Designer
- Evidence of working in an agile development environment
- Proven industry experience in applying design knowledge
- Experience in designing user interfaces and fulfilling user needs
- Knowledge of graphic design, including web typography, color use, and imagery
- Experience in collaborating with cross-disciplinary teams
- Experience in simplifying complex data and information
- Evidence of working to WCAG 2.1/2.2 standards
- Degree in design, human-computer interaction (HCI), or related field (or equivalent industry training/experience)
