PLOS is seeking a Sr. Editor, Team Manager for PLOS Medicine. This role is the strategic head for their subject area and is responsible for creating and implementing a vision for content and promoting this within PLOS Medicine and the external community. The Sr. Editor maintains high standards for author service and contributes to policies and procedures that support Open Science practices.
The Sr. Editor, Team Manager will be responsible for:
- Managing Associate and/or Senior Editors.
- Recruiting, training, managing and developing team members, setting objectives and taking accountability for the team’s progress towards objectives.
- Managing the work of the team.
- Developing the editorial vision and strategy for their team.
- Overseeing manuscripts within specific subject areas of the journal scope.
- Taking a strategic, data-driven and disciplined approach to shaping editorial policy.
- Ensuring efficient submission handling.
- Deciding on publication ethics cases and work with the Publication Ethics team to bring active cases to a swift resolution.
- Leading journal-wide projects.
- Representing PLOS Medicine at external meetings.
Requirements:
- A postgraduate degree in a relevant discipline.
- Professional experience in managing peer review.
- Experience managing and training staff; cross-cultural competence is desirable.
- Excellent analytic, communication and presentation skills, both written and oral.
- Organized and efficient with a strong problem-solving ability.
