Merchant Risk Officer at Alma

Alma is seeking a Merchant Risk Officer to join their team in Lille, France. This role is crucial for monitoring merchant activity and behavior to mitigate financial and reputational risk. The Merchant Risk Officer will analyze merchant accounts, manage alerts, conduct in-depth research into merchants suspected of fraud, and monitor merchant activity through various indicators.This individual will collaborate with internal teams and communicate with merchants regarding risk management issues. The role involves establishing reports to identify fraud patterns and improve control processes. • Analyse merchant accounts to ensure compliance with terms and conditions.
• Manage unusual behavior alerts and potential default risks.
• Conduct in-depth merchant research for fraud suspicions.
• Monitor merchant activity using sales volumes and default rates.
• Establish reports to identify fraud patterns and improve controls.
• Communicate with merchants on risk management issues.
• Serve as a point of contact for internal teams regarding merchant risk.

Requirements:

• Rigorous with strong investigation skills.
• Interest in e-commerce, fintech, tech, and fraud prevention.
• Attention to detail and thoroughness.
• Analytical approach with autonomy in decision-making.
• Comfortable with uncertainty and adaptable to changing environments.
• Strong writing and communication skills in French and English.
• Good IT skills; SQL skills are an asset.
