Oportun is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join its Enterprise Data and Technology (EDT) team. In this role, the candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining sophisticated software/data platforms and will actively contribute to architectural decisions, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, scalable software solutions.

Role involves:

  • Leading the design and implementation of data architectures.
  • Developing and optimizing data pipelines and ETL processes.
  • Overseeing the management and maintenance of databases and data warehouses.
  • Establishing and enforcing data quality standards and governance practices.
  • Providing technical leadership and mentorship to junior team members.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver data solutions.
  • Implementing monitoring systems and optimizing data pipeline performance.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering.
  • Proficiency in programming languages like Python/Pyspark and Java/Scala.
  • Expertise in big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, etc.
  • In-depth knowledge of SQL and experience with various database technologies.
  • Experience in building complex end-to-end data pipelines.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
