Oportun is seeking a Senior Manager, Software Engineering - Security to lead the Security Engineering team. This role involves designing, developing, and maintaining foundational security services and libraries. The Senior Manager is also responsible for automating Security Pipelines and driving down Security Vulnerabilities. They innovate to improve the company's security posture and conduct Threat Modeling reviews.

Responsibilities include:
  • Designing, building, and maintaining large-scale security services.
  • Performing in-depth data analysis of security signals.
  • Staying updated on threat vectors and incorporating defenses.
  • Collaborating with product managers and engineers.
  • Planning and analyzing A/B tests.
  • Leveraging customer feedback.
  • Creating detailed reports and dashboards.
  • Working with various teams to align product strategies.
  • Documenting findings and insights and communicate them effectively to stakeholders.

Requirements include:
  • Demonstrated focus on Computer/Network/Information Security.
  • 13+ years of engineering experience with a Master’s degree.
  • 3+ years of recent management experience managing 10+ team members.
  • 10+ years of individual contributor engineering experience.
  • Experience with Java, REST, Spring Framework, relational DB, CI/CD in an agile environment.
  • Experience working with a NoSQL Database like MongoDB.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong project management skills.
