Principal Backend Developer - Berlin / Remote at eyeo

eyeo is seeking a Principal Backend Developer to join their team. eyeo transforms the internet into a trusted, sustainable, and accessible place. The company is known for its products like Adblock Plus and AdBlock.

The Principal Backend Developer will be responsible for designing and developing scalable, high-performance microservices and APIs to power mobile applications, browser extensions, and websites. The role involves driving end-to-end solutions by aligning efforts across multiple client teams and ensuring the security and robustness of applications.

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop scalable, high-performance microservices and APIs.
• Drive end-to-end solutions by aligning and integrating efforts across multiple client teams.
• Ensure the security and robustness of applications.
• Establish monitoring frameworks and drive performance optimization efforts.
• Collaborate with other engineers, Product Managers, UI/UX Designers, and cross-functional leaders.
• Guide senior developers in advancing their technical expertise.
• Stay ahead of emerging technologies and cloud innovations.

Requirements:

• 15+ years of professional development experience.
• Proven track record of designing and building scalable services and APIs.
• Proficiency in NodeJS is a plus.
• Knowledge of frontend clients, frameworks and their needs
• Solid understanding of cloud platforms, with a preference for Google Cloud.
• Familiarity with secure development practices and ability to implement secure coding principles
• Strong understanding of schema design, database systems (SQL and NoSQL), caching strategies, and web protocols such as HTTP/S, WebSocket, and gRPC
• Ability to debug complex issues, optimize performance, and deliver robust solutions.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively across teams
