Principal Backend Developer (Node.js) - Berlin / Remote at eyeo

eyeo is seeking a Principal Backend Developer to join their team and help transform the internet into a trusted, sustainable, and accessible place. In this role, the individual will be responsible for building the foundations for a consistent and better user experience for a massive user base across multiple platforms. The Principal Backend Developer will design and develop secure, stable, and scalable services and applications.

Role Involves:

• Designing and developing scalable, high-performance microservices and APIs.
• Driving end-to-end solutions by aligning and integrating efforts across multiple client teams.
• Ensuring the security and robustness of applications.
• Establishing monitoring frameworks and driving performance optimization efforts.
• Collaborating with engineers, product managers, UI/UX designers, and cross-functional leaders.
• Guiding senior developers and driving high-impact code review processes.
• Staying ahead of emerging technologies and cloud innovations.

Requirements:

• 15+ years of professional development experience.
• Proven track record of designing and building scalable services and APIs.
• Proficiency in NodeJS.
• Knowledge of frontend clients, frameworks, and their needs.
• Solid understanding of cloud platforms (preferably Google Cloud).
• Familiarity with secure development practices.
• Strong understanding of schema design, database systems, caching strategies, and web protocols.
• Ability to debug complex issues and optimize performance.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively across teams.
