Engineering Manager, Platform - Cloud Infrastructure

Valon is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead its Cloud Infrastructure efforts on the Platform team. The company's mission is to empower every homeowner by creating a world where home ownership comes with ease, security, and financial know-how. Valon is leveraging technology to improve the homeownership experience through mortgage servicing.

The Engineering Manager will manage and grow a team responsible for the infrastructure powering Valon’s products, ensuring the platform is scalable, secure, and reliable. The role involves operating with a product management mindset, balancing priorities with platform vision, and partnering with engineering, product, and operations teams.

Responsibilities:

• Lead a team of engineers focused on infrastructure and platform tooling.
• Own technical strategy, planning, and execution for core platform initiatives.
• Act as a technical mentor and contributor, guiding architecture and writing code.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to build infrastructure that unlocks product innovation.
• Establish and evolve engineering processes for continuous improvement.
• Invest in recruiting and developing engineering talent through coaching and mentorship.
• Promote a high-agency, high-accountability team culture.

Requirements:

• 4+ years of software engineering experience, with 1+ years in a tech lead or engineering management role.
• Experience working on infrastructure, platform engineering, DevOps, or cloud systems.
• Strong systems thinking and understanding of backend and infrastructure layers.
• Track record of leading teams in fast-paced, high-growth environments.
• Ability to mentor and grow engineers while fostering a high-performance team culture.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to align cross-functional partners.
• Hands-on experience with cloud providers (e.g., AWS, GCP), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and distributed systems.
• A strong product mindset and the ability to translate business problems into scalable technical solutions.
